Comparison with British and US qualifications
From a legal point of view, there is no systematic equivalence between foreign and French qualifications.
Requests for recognition of foreign diplomas are therefore examined on a case-by-case basis by the institution in question.
Decisions are not based solely on the diploma title, but also on the course content, the course duration, and the establishment where the course was taken.
Though there is no systematic rule of equivalence, it is possible to establish tentative parallels between the higher education systems in France and other countries.
By way of example, we offer schematic comparisons with the systems in Britain and the United States.
