Introduction

An Academically- and Professionally-Qualified Faculty

Isabelle ASSASSI
Academic Dean of Toulouse Business School

The Toulouse Business School (TBS) Group currently has about 85 resident faculty members and 60 affiliated faculty members, in addition to 45 visiting professors from partner universities abroad and approximately 1200 professional part-time lecturers, each of whom contributes to our educational programs.

Our faculty is the foundation of the strategic skills at our "Grande Ecole". Grouped by major subjects of management (Accounting/Management Control/Auditing, Finance/Economics/Law, Information Management, Human Resources Management, Marketing/International Business, Industrial Organization/Logistics/Technology, Strategy and Entrepreneurship), all of our professors are experts in their respective fields.

Maintaining this high level of expertise, which is recognized and proven by the three international accreditations obtained by the TBS Group (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA), requires a pro-active policy of hiring new faculty and in supporting research and development. Thus, the number of resident faculty has grown by 25% in five years.

For over ten years now, we have required all of our new professors to have a Doctorate and to demonstrate capacity in high quality academic research (ranked publications, impact of research, etc). In addition to their research capacities, professors are recruited on the basis of their teaching skill as well as their international and, where possible, professional experience.

In keeping with TBS's multi-campus identity (Toulouse, Barcelona and Casablanca), our international orientation is enhanced by the priority we place on the recruitment of foreign researchers/ professors: more than half of the professors hired in the past three years are of foreign nationality. Today, they represent 35% of resident faculty and are drawn from 20 different countries around the world: Australia, Canada, Chile, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Morocco, Nigeria, Portugal, Romania, Tunisia, the United Kingdom, the United States, etc.

Research, innovation in education, international renown and professional grounding make up a virtuous circle that allows the Toulouse Business School Group to fulfill its mission of "training pilots of change". More specifically, our research defines our international reputation both academically and vis-à-vis companies and organizations. Our aim is to improve the awareness and practice of management and not merely to repeat past knowledge or know-how. Our research base also contributes to our achievement in educating students, managers, directors, coaches and trainers, through introducing cutting-edge methods and highly-modern management courses.
